Best ever care for our little jenday conure! The doctor spent more than an hour with us and the bird, and she and her assistant were especially careful with him when they clipped his toenails and took blood for the medical testing. They explained everything they were doing and taught us about diet and general care for him and our other birds. Also, they did not recommend clipping his wings, which is super important for us.
I am a new client at this clinic, and I am incredibly impressed. The staff is great, the veterinarians really know their stuff, and they were able to help me with my 10-year-old parrot when she suddenly decided to start laying eggs. I felt very supported and informed from start to finish. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.
Puzzle is getting the highest level of care and he is forever worth it 🙏🐢❤️ …
We have taken many of our animals here and have received great service each time. We've had reptiles, mammals and birds seen by them. The staff are very knowledgeable and polite.
Our hedgehogs have received excellent care here. I appreciate their safety protocols. During a recent in-office urgent care visit, Dr. Mattucks was gentle and patient with our little hedgie and gave us a clear care plan for him.

First off, it is Dr Parrott to you. Second off, what a fabulous narcissistic response. A typical response expected from you, which follows suit to my original complaint. One that lacks empathy to a family who brought their animal in to be euthanized. Your gaslighting manipulation which points the finger at the client rather than taking responsibility for your actions. Way to go Avian and Exotic Vet!! Point the finger and make every excuse to make yourself feel better. Actions speak louder than words doc. Such a pity that you wrote this long response to justify your lack of. It speaks volumes.

Appalled by this vet. Made an appt quickly to euthanize my animal and we show up a few hours later only to be told that we can’t be present when the pet is euthanized due to covid. Folks, let me remind you, it is the end of 2022, one week away from 2023. Never in my life have I ever been so utterly disgusted by the vet clinics in the city of Portland. This was pathetic and tops the cake. This vet makes me sick to my stomach. Who in their right mind would and continue to deny a pet and their family being together at this incredibly emotional and down right traumatic event and continue to use covid as the excuse? This $&@“hole, that is who. This city can’t get anything together and it is reflected in the people and businesses that surround it. Jesus Christ!! A vet’s office!!! Oh but “it says it on our website” Yeah jokers, it says a lot of stuff on websites. Maybe tell the client this stuff when you are on the phone with them, especially when the client is highly traumatize due to an up and coming, immediate DEATH. Get it together folks!
Side note….this is one of the few that euthanize exotic pets, so the options are slim for this type of vet to begin with. Others seem to be thrilled with this vet but their experience isn’t in the realm of walking the rainbow bridge.
Couldn't get anyone to answer my calls. Went on the website and tried to schedule an appointment that way and had zero luck.
I really love this place for my ferrets. I was referred to them by another exotic vet when one of the ferrets had a tumor on his tail. The original vet was transparent and let us know he would be in better hands at Avian and Exotic Vet Care. They taught my husband and I a lot about what was going on for our ferret and gave us options, and gave us information to help us decide how urgently care was needed. We opted for the surgery and they were able to get us in quickly. Very quickly after surgery our ferret was back to his normal self
When our second ferret appeared sick we knew we could trust this team. After his check up we decided surgery would also be appropriate for him. They once again gave us all the information we could hope for and we’re able to schedule very quickly. We are looking forward to him feeling better soon.
I would also say their prices seem very fair. They’re very up front about all the potential costs and give you agency to make the best decisions for your family.
